Mysterious magic of protected wetlands.
Mrtvy luh (The Dead Meadows) is part of the vast wetlands with many meanders. This valley peat bog is in the first zone of the Šumava National Park and can be found at the confluence of Teplá and Studená Vltava rivers. After the underground peat fire, there were only interesting silhouettes of dead trees left. Mrtvý luh peat bog is a protected wetland and is not commonly accessible. It is possible to see it while traveling by train from Černý Kříž to Volary and only rafters and canoers will get closer to it.
