Výstava Jan Žižka 600 let

It will last until May 2025, the opening ceremony is being prepared for April 25 from 5 p.m. in the Gothic hall of the Old Tábor town hall . The exhibition maps the life and significance of the great Hussite warrior. An introductory animated film from Jan Míka's workshop ( Filmofon ), interesting artefacts from the Hussite Museum's collections, faithful replicas of weapons and war machines, dioramas, comics, paintings and games tell the story of Hetman Jan Žižka in all its complexity in the context of the time in which he was born.

The exhibition is divided into six thematic areas. Already at the beginning, the visitor is put in the role of an evaluator who should decide where to place Žižka at the end of the exhibition. We will get to know Žižek's origin and family tree, and the life of a member of the Lapkov group, all against the background of the tumultuous events of Europe at the time, including expectations of the near end of the world. The third part is an introduction to Žižek's new life following the meeting with the ideas of Jan Hus. In the Hussite movement, a great military leader and never-defeated commander is born, who wants to lead his warriors of God to victory over the Antichrist. And even at the cost of hard decisions and actions. At the end of the exhibition, in addition to the warlord's death, a model of scales and beans await, which, when thrown into one of the containers, will tip the scales to the side of good or evil.

The project is a production of the Hussite Museum in Tábor with the financial support of the Ministry of Culture of the Czech Republic.
