Longer but undemanding trip through the Vltava River canyon.
The route starts on the train platform in Boršov nad Vltavou. The Fritsch Trail starts just a few meters from the station, and is marked in red. Along the way, you will find lots of attractions and sights such as the defunct Boršov Castle, a memorial to an American pilot, Dívčí Kámen Castle or Celtic Opiddum.
The entire route is full of river views and leads through the beautiful countryside of the Blansko Forest. It can be walked in 5 hours. The route ends at the bus stop in Zlatá Koruna.
Chairman Fritsch
The trail is named after Ing. Emanuel Fritsch, Chief Technical Executive of the Council of the Czechoslovak State Railways and then the chairman of KČST Šumava and KČST České Budějovice, who was instrumental in building it.
The trail was shot in the rock in 1933-1938. Engineer troops helped with the blasting of the rock, and were thus preparing for a possible war, which eventually engulfed the world in 1939.
