Tens of thousands of pilgrims have headed here for centuries, mainly to the statue of the miraculous Virgin Mary of Kajov, not only from a large part of South Bohemia and Šumava, but also from Austria and Bavaria.
Regular Sunday services are held in the church that serves as the parish. The main pilgrimage takes place on the second Sunday in October, usually with the participation of a papal nuncius and a large number of pilgrims from all three countries.
Many legends and miracles are connected to Kajov and especially to the miraculous Virgin Mary of Kajov.
