Hmyzí tváře

The exhibition will take you on a journey from the representatives of the evolutionarily oldest groups of insects, whose ancestors lived in the Paleolithic, to the youngest in terms of development. Through breathtaking photos, you can get a glimpse into the secrets of the insect microworld. The exhibition not only celebrates the immense diversity and aesthetic uniqueness of insects, but also draws attention to their essential role in ecosystems and the need to protect them.

Insects belong to the oldest terrestrial organisms and are the most numerous and diverse group of animals. It is estimated that there are around 5 million insect species in the world and only about a fifth of them have been described. The study of insects allows us to understand biodiversity as well as key ecological processes, while providing valuable insight into the history of life on Earth. Insects have also inspired countless discoveries and innovations in many fields, including agriculture, medicine, technology, robotics and materials.

In recent decades, insects have been declining dramatically due to loss of natural habitats, pesticide use, climate change and environmental pollution. This decline threatens not only insect populations, but also the plants and other animals that depend on them. The protection of insects is therefore necessary to maintain the health of ecosystems, which are also indispensable for human society and its future.

Come with us to explore the insect kingdom that surrounds us and that we normally overlook. Let yourself be transported to a microscopic world where each insect's face becomes a window into the secrets of nature.
